Interview with Killer Comics Artist Keu Cha

Tonight on the Freshdesigner podcast I’ll be interviewing a killer comics artist and good friend, Keu Cha. Keu was a former Witchblade artist but has gotten a lot of buzz with his new creator owned project, Hex the Lost Tribe. Figure and Anatomy DVDs by Charles Hu and Gnomon Workshop

Charles Hu is a veteran artist and renowned teacher of figure drawing and anatomy. Gnomon Workshop has recently released 2 volumes of featuring anatomy lecture by Charles Hu. I’ve gotten to know Charles recently and he is a dynamic teacher who is incredibly knowledgeable about human anatomy. Character Design Q&A with Carlo Arellano

Carlo Arellano is a world class Concept Artist and teacher who is known as a Character Design expert. I’ve had the fortune to study with Carlo @ Concept Design Academy and I was blown away by his knowledge and abilities. CGMW was kind enough to share a Q&A session where Carlo shared a lot of great insights about Character Design and his philosophy.

How to Use Photoshop Brush Settings

This quick Photoshop tip will introduce you to the Brush Settings Menu. You will get a brief overview of the various options and controls along with an introduction to using brush dynamics to create custom brushes. This will also show my personal brush settings and the main controls that I use most in my professional work for creating concept art and digital paintings.

**NOTE: WACOM pen tablet or similar digital pen tablet required to follow along. Photoshop version CS3 demonstrated in video.

Tutorial Video – How to Render Concept Art Part 4: Adding Color

In part 4 of the Concept Art Tutorial series we add glazes of color to our tonal underpainting. We’ll use the color theory and strategies from the last video to create depth, model form and bring our creature design to life. This video demonstrates how to use blending modes and layers to add a transparent wash, or glaze, of color while preserving the tones and values established in the previous tutorial videos.
